IDEALS

IDEALS

IDEALS is the Institutional Repository for the University of Illinois.  The University of Illinois at Springfield has a Community within this repository for the use of its faculty and staff.

IDEALS (Illinois Digital Environment for Access to Learning and Scholarship) collects, disseminates, and provides persistent and reliable access to the research and scholarship of faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and University of Illinois Springfield.

Faculty, staff, and graduate students can deposit their research and scholarship—unpublished and, in many cases, published—directly into IDEALS. Departments can use IDEALS to distribute their working papers, technical reports, or other research material.

Depositing Information into IDEALS

To create an account and deposit in IDEALS, at present this is a two step process:

1) Each user has to first login into the IDEALS system with their NetID and password, and

2) The user then needs inform one of the site administrator(s)  that they want to be added to a specific collection so they can have submittal rights to that collection. So the user just needs to send and e-mail to either Stephen McMinnhmcmi3@uis.edu or Tom Wood, twood1@uis.edu indicating your faculty/staff/student status and what department you belong to and the community that they would like to deposit their scholarly objects into.

You will then be granted submittal rights to the appropriate collection. Before submitting your work, please be sure to review the guidelines for depositing your work.

IDEALS and PlumX

PlumX also works hand in hand with UIS’s DSpace Institutional Repository, IDEALS, which allows for the preservation of and provides access to all types of scholarly output including, documents, articles, working papers, presentations, and data sets.  Please note, you do not need an IDEALS account to participate with PlumX.

The key to PlumX being able to provide meaningful statistical data is that you have knowledge of your publications, presentations, and other scholarship.  PlumX also works hand in hand with UIS’s DSpace Institutional Repository, IDEALS, which allows for the preservation of and provides access to all types of scholarly output including, documents, articles, working papers, presentations, and data sets.
