Every three years, Memorial Health hospitals conduct a community health needs assessment (CHNA). Springfield Memorial Hospital (Sangamon County), Lincoln Memorial Hospital (Logan County), Taylorville Memorial Hospital (Christian County), Decatur Memorial Hospital (Macon County) and Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville (Morgan County) work with an internal team, as well as community representatives, to identify the top health priorities of these counties. Information on the assessment process and results are available online, as well as community health implementation plan (CHIP) that outlines strategies to address these priorities.

Also available at this site is an extensive database of community demographics, health indicators, as well as social determinants of health, such as household income, housing, education, etc. This information is available to all community organizations to assist in goal setting, need assessments, grant writing and other work. An additional feature is the Promising Practices section which lists more than 2,000 ideas that have been successfully tried in other communities across the country to address community needs. Data is available from census tract level to county level, depending on the data source cited.

The Sangamon County Citizen Survey is a collaborative effort between the UIS Center for State Policy & Leadership, the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln, and the United Way of Central Illinois. The project's purpose is to establish benchmarks and evaluate changes in residents' assessments of the quality of life in Sangamon County. The periodic survey will provide local leaders, community organizations, and citizens with longitudinal insight into issues facing local residents.

Publishers of Giving USA, an annual report that provides statistics and evaluation of the state of philanthropy during the previous year. Reports facts, and analyzes why giving was up or down for each subject area, foundations, corporations, or individuals. It includes predictions for the next funding year.
