Requesting Books

I-Share

If the book you are looking for is not owned by Brookens, or is currently checked-out, you can search for it in the I-Share system.  If available, you can place requests for library materials from an I-Share library using My Library Account.  You will receive an email when your items are available for pick-up at the Brookens Library main desk. The loan period for I-Share materials is 4 weeks with 3 renewals.

You can also visit one of the 80+ I-Share libraries and check out books in-person using your UIS i-card.

However, out-of-state students or faculty cannot borrow I-Share materials.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you are an out of state, online student, you may request items from the Brookens Library holdings via InterLibrary Loan, or MyILL. Please note that we are not able to send items owned by other libraries and that you will have to use your local library for these requests.

Be sure to include in the NOTES field of your request that you are an online only student. This is a critical piece of information that will alert Brookens Library staff to the fact that the item will need to be mailed to you. Brookens will mail the item to you free of charge. However, you will be responsible for the cost of shipping it back to the library.
